Icewalk in the Afternoon
Icewalks operate June 1 -September 30, 2012
A great afternoon on the Athabasca Glacier. Two and a half hours allows us to take you up the lower two kilometres of the glacier. Meeting in the parking lot nearest the glacier about twenty minutes before the trip begins, we will consult with each participant about necessary equipment and your level of fitness. Once the group is properly equipped, we head up a short but steep trail to the edge of the ice. Throughout the trip, short stops allow us to introduce our groups to the concepts of active glaciation and the features of a glacially carved landscape. There are many examples of moraines, millwells and small crevasses. The surrounding peaks are amongst the most stunning in the Canadian Rockies.
(Groups usually consist of 12-15 people.)
THESE TRIPS ARE ADDED AT THE LAST MINUTE
